Congratulations to Lauren William ‘18, a recipient of the Academic All-Canadian Award. To qualify as an Academic All-Canadian, student-athletes must maintain a GPA of at least 3.50 over the academic year while competing in a varsity sport. Lauren is a current Dalhousie University student on the Women's Swimming Team while studying Mechanical Engineering.
Lauren is passionate about engineering and wants to inspire other women to enter the field.
She was on the planning committee of the GO ENG GIRL 2020 Conference through the Dalhousie Women in Engineering (WIE) Society. This global initiative gives girls from grades 7 to 12 the opportunity to learn about engineering, meet professionals in the field, hear from current students, and have a chance to win a $1,000 scholarship. Also, Lauren, along with three team members, competed in the Atlantic Engineering Competition and received 1st Place in Innovative Design, which advanced them to the national competition.
